Coaching in basic play for golf croquet
The shots in golf croquet are easy to pick up and the casual player doesn't really need to work on improving shots since it is just a social game in this instance. However, as soon as you see that your 'friendly' social player has mastered some of the clever basic shots, you will want to have an idea of how to do them yourself.
In competitions, your opponent will mostly be able to perform all the shots in golf croquet because it doesn't take long to learn and they are very effective.
Golf croquet is a tactical game. It is a challenge to the mind. This is why it appeals to many players. Actually after a full day of match-play golf croquet most players will feel mentally exhausted in a very satisfying sort of way. It's good to know some basic tactics in this very crafty game. The more you play the better your tactics will become.
The rules of golf croquet are relatively simple, but do need to be mastered. This avoids 'misunderstandings' during a game. In this game, except in international play, each player is given the task of being their own referee. So it is an honourable game. If you commit a foul and opponents don't notice, you do declare the fault. Best to know what is a fault, and what is not, because your opponent may notice a fault that you don't know about, and then justifiably feel that you are not entirely being honest! The laws can be taught (and they will be), but it is best to learn them in practice while playing.
