For social croquet: Comfortable, appropriate for the weather.
For friendly matches against other clubs: Comfortable, appropriate for the weather, reasonably sporty, whites optional.
For competitive matches against other clubs*: Whites if the weather is fine. If it is wet, light coloured waterproofs. If very wet, any waterproofs at all.
EACF or CA tournaments for individuals**: Whites if the weather is fine. If wet, light colour waterproofs ideally, but when very wet anything will do.
Please note: Clothing needs to be appropriate to getting a good unhampered swing of the croquet mallet. The lady in the picture would have a problem playing. If clothing is loose and flappy maybe a side stance is better. In croquet, it is a fault if a player's clothing touches a croquet ball.
* Competitive matches are not yet on our calendar, and are unlikely to be on it until 2015
** If an individual goes along to a tournament run by the EACF or by the CA
